Off to Turkey in 10 days. Alanya. A last minute all inclusive deal. €640 for a week, 4 star.
Never done anything like this before, but it’ll be good for D and her girls.
The plane leaves at 6am, which is a bit unfortunate. It will give us half the day at the destination, of course. To sleep it off…
Two of my favourite places are in Turkey, but at the other end of the country.

Alanya is on the Med, so south/central Anatolia.
I enjoyed a week in Bitez (near Bodrum, on the Aegean) 5 years ago, so that augurs well.
I’m looking forward to quite a few things, now I’ve thought about it. Swimming in the sea – haven’t done that for 5 years. Turkish tea and simit… delicious. Best breakfast. All those meze. Rakı (to wash them down). Turkish ice cream – dondurma.
The main challenge I foresee (all inclusive, remember) is getting enough exercise and not too much food. Temperatures in the mid 30s won’t help with the exercise. As soon as the sun comes up (6.30ish), it’s too hot.
I used to run around Kınalıada just as the sun was coming up, then go to the bakery to buy bread for breakfast, but no more running for me. Maybe I can rent a bike? Or just swim.
I’ll keep you posted.
