After my short stay in Gdańsk I took the train (PKP Intercity) to Toruń. In all (I changed trains in Bydgoszcz) it was about 2 hours of travel time.
As with my visit to Poland in September, my train journey was a delight – comfortable and on time. I have not been to Toruń before and looked forward to expanding my knowledge of Poland.
The city’s old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Centre, and the October weather has been showing it off nicely. This time I am staying in the B&B Hotel after using that brand a few times recently. It seems to be reliable, if basic. I do not need luxury or style. Just a good sleep and a good breakfast.
As well as exploring the UNESCO stuff, I took on Parkrun Toruń.
The course is through a wooded area in the suburbs, and very enjoyable. I got a taxi (Bolt works well here) out to the start and a tram back. Easy. 15 minutes in the taxi and 25 by tram. 30 pln as compared to 3.80 pln.
My Lonely Planet guide hypes up Toruń, and sometimes that can lead to a disappointment.
Not this time.
It is a lovely wee city.
