Wrocław

Stary Ratusz (Town Hall)

Yes, my fourth (and last) item on my itinerary was Wrocław.

My flight back to Edinburgh left from there.

It is a 90 minute train journey south from Poznań, and I passed it in comfort and style (my usual approach) in the 1st class section and in the restaurant car. PKP gives us old folks a whacking discount (30%, from memory) and no need to buy some special discount card as is the way in rip-off Britain. I just had to show my passport to the ticket inspector.

Life Saver at Literatka

Very civilised.

My ticket cost 44zł (£8.69; €10.29), booked and paid for in advance with no changes allowed.

St Elisabeth’s

Wrocław is lovely. I wish I had been able to spend more that just one night there. It seems like a good reason to return.

Dusk over the Oder

The airport is lovely too, which is an added incentive to go back. Check in took a couple of minutes – no queue. Security was the same. Passport control too.

Wrocław Airport

I used the Bolt app to book a taxi to get out to the airport and it worked perfectly. 57zł (£11; €13). Usually I am fine with public transport to/from airports but I had to be there about 8am for a 9.50 departure, so Bolt it was.
